So you are planning a redesign of your current website or you are launching a new business online.
Ok, you’ve got all these ideas and want to get something up online asap to getting your name out there, let Google know you exist and start collect emails for your marketing list. However, your website isn’t going to be ready for at least a month, may be longer (if you’ve gone to a reputable/experienced designer and developer – check out my web design and development services.).
A pre-launch page is the perfect route to take.
So what is a pre-launch page?
It is a simple, usually single webpage that Google can see and record (index) and so start ranking you in its search results. It gets the SEO juice flowing from your domain to Google to potential customers. It gets your business and brand online and starts to ‘prepare’ visitors to buy your product or service.
The page incorporates your branding, logo, contact information and social media links – this gives visitors a chance to get to know you/your business, connect and contact you online.
An important part of online marketing is to build an email list of people who are interested in you/your business and services that you can market those services or products to in the future.
I would suggest including a newsletter signup or ‘Get notified when the website is live’ sign up so you can start adding people to your marketing list. I recommend Mailchimp and Convertkit for managing and utilising your email list. They are easy to set up and automate a lot of the processes for you.
Social media is also important as a way of driving traffic to your website and blog, so your launch page should include links to your social media pages so visitors can connect with you and see what you are doing.
If your website isn’t going to be ready for a while (and you don’t want to rush these things) it is good to start growing your online presence as soon as you can, get in there early and show Google you are an authority in your niche/area of expertise. Start building your brand!
