I don’t know about anyone else, but I can spend more time selecting the right image to go with in a blog post than actually writing the post itself!

In the last couple of weeks we have looked at the benefits of having a blog on your website and ideas for what you can actually blog about. Today, I’m completing the process by looking at where you can find beautiful and professional looking images to compliment your blog post or to freshen up your website in general.

As the saying goes ‘A picture paints a thousand words’, or something along those lines.

People are instantly drawn to a picture, it immediately tells a story and can conjure up emotion. It is a way to communicate visually, and in an age of forever scrolling through websites, social media and blog posts, it is an image that makes you stop and look/read that post as apposed to the countless others.

That said, it has to be the right picture, a picture that relates to what you are saying and is inline with your target audience. An image that tells your audience about what you are going to tell them, but also gives an insight to you and your business’ style and personality is important.

Pinterest - Where to find beautiful images

This is my first port of call when looking for images for my blog posts, instagram posts and images for my websites.

I love Unsplash.com. It has over 400,00 images that are different from those you regulary see and they are all Free for personal and commercial use.

Next up is Pexels.com.

Again it has images that are all free for personal and commercial use. They offer a good mix of styles and subject matter, there is an image for everyone on this site.

Finally, another favourite of mine is Death To Stock. Alternative images with an option to recieve a free image each week via email as well as a premium option to gain access to selected images.

There are literally hundres of free image sites out there, the ones above are the sites where I have found the best images to reflect me, my business and the subject I’m talking about or promoting.

Go take a look for yourself and see what you think. Let me know in the comments below your go to image sites.

Happy browsing :)
